There are times your Android device may start causing you problems such as hangs at certain points, apps force-closing, not allowing you to move forward and so on. If you didn't know, Android can also be booted into Safe Mode just like how you boot your Windows PC and the main point of it is of course for troubleshooting issues. Thanks to Safe Mode, you will be able to uninstall unresponsive apps and fix your phone.

For Android 4.1 and up:

  1. Long-press the Power button on your device so that the power menu will show up.
  2. You should see the option "Power Off". Long-press that option and you should be asked if you wish to boot into Safe Mode.
  3. Choose OK, it will automatically reboot there.

For Android versions below 4.1:

  1. Long-press the Power button on your device so that the power menu will show up.
  2. Choose Power off to turn off your device completely.
  3. Now hold the Power button again and release it once you see your device's boot logo.
  4. Now immediatelly begin to hold Volume up and Volume down buttons until the logo is gone.
  5. You should be in Safe Mode.
